Fans of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup have been urged to understand that, during the preliminary rounds of the competitions, responsibility for the live broadcasting of matches does not fall under CAF, but rather lies with the host team.
Under the current arrangement, the home team is responsible for reaching an agreement with a television station or broadcaster to provide live coverage of the match. As a result, some matches may be broadcast live, while others could face challenges such as not being televised or experiencing poor picture and internet quality.
Football stakeholders have urged fans to understand this situation, particularly ahead of this weekend’s matches. If a club’s match is not broadcast live or experiences technical difficulties affecting the quality of the coverage, the issue should be attributed to the home team, which is responsible for broadcasting arrangements at this stage of the competition.
However, from the group stage and beyond, CAF will take responsibility for overseeing match broadcasting, with the aim of establishing a more unified broadcasting system and reducing the challenges that may arise during the preliminary rounds.
