Simba SC have maintained their 100 per cent winning record this season after beating Coastal Union 1-0 in a Tanzanian Premier League match played at Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium in Mbweni, Dar es Salaam.
It was a match dominated by Simba for long periods, with the Msimbazi Reds controlling proceedings and creating more scoring opportunities than their opponents.
In the first half, Simba's forwards lacked composure in front of goal and failed to capitalise on several clear chances. Coastal Union, meanwhile, focused primarily on defending and limiting Simba's attacking threat.
After sustained pressure on the Coastal Union goal, Simba finally took the lead in the 74th minute through Ismail Touré, who headed home a well-delivered cross from Anicet Oura.
In the closing stages, Simba were awarded a penalty after Elie Mpanzu appeared to have been fouled inside the penalty area. However, following a review using the FVS system, the penalty decision was overturned.
The 90 minutes ended with Simba recording their fourth consecutive victory of the season and returning to the top of the league standings with 12 points.
The victory extends Simba's impressive start to the campaign, with the team yet to lose a match or drop a point in their opening four games.
