The Pharaohs Make History at the 2026 World Cup, Knock Out Australia.

Egypt made history by eliminating Australia in a penalty shootout to qualify for the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match ended 1-1 after both regular time and extra time before the Pharaohs held their nerve to secure a historic victory on penalties.

Egypt took the lead in the 13th minute through Emam Ashour, but Australia equalized in the 55th minute after an own goal by Hany. Both teams battled hard for the remainder of the match but were unable to find a winning goal.

With the score still level after 120 minutes, the match was decided by a penalty shootout, where Egypt showed great composure to emerge victorious over Australia.

The win marks a historic milestone for Egypt, as it is the nation's first-ever victory in a FIFA World Cup knockout match. Head coach Hossam Hassan's side has now written a new chapter in Egyptian football history.
