Former Yanga SC coach Romain Folz has secured a new challenge after being appointed head coach of Tunisian side US Monastir on a one-year contract.
Folz, a French national with extensive experience in African football, returns to a head coaching role after several months without a club following his departure from Yanga earlier this season.
His Journey After Leaving Yanga
Folz joined Yanga SC towards the end of last season with high expectations, but his stay was short-lived. He managed the team for only about three months before leaving due to unsatisfactory results, including a goalless draw against Mbeya City.
After his departure, the coach remained unattached for a period, being linked with several clubs across Africa before eventually landing in Tunisia.
US Monastir and a New Challenge
US Monastir, a Tunisian club competing in the country's top-flight league, is one of the fastest-growing teams in Tunisian football. The club has been increasingly competitive in recent years, consistently challenging for top positions and participating in CAF competitions.
For Folz, the job will not be easy, as Tunisian football is known for high managerial pressure, demanding supporters, and strong competition from giants such as Espérance de Tunis and Étoile du Sahel.

Before joining Yanga, Folz worked in several African countries, including:

Botswana (Township Rollers)
South Africa (Marumo Gallants, AmaZulu, assistant at Mamelodi Sundowns)
Guinea (Horoya AC)
This experience gives him a strong understanding of African football, although the Tunisian league is expected to present a very different level of challenge.
