England produced a strong performance to defeat Panama 2-0 in their final Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing top spot in the group and advancing to the Round of 32.
After a goalless first half, the Three Lions stepped up in the second period, with Jude Bellingham opening the scoring in the 62nd minute with a powerful strike that broke Panama’s defensive resistance. Just five minutes later, captain Harry Kane doubled the lead with a well-placed header from a Bellingham assist to seal a crucial victory.
The goal marked Kane’s 11th in World Cup history, making him England’s all-time top scorer in the competition, surpassing Gary Lineker. Bellingham also stood out with a goal and an assist in another impressive display.
The win ensured England finished top of Group L with seven points, followed by Croatia in second place. Ghana also progressed to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams, while Panama exited the tournament without advancing.
In the Round of 32, England will face DR Congo, who finished second in Group K after a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan. The match is expected to be highly competitive as England continue their quest for a second World Cup title.
