Como Make History with First-Ever Champions League Qualification Under Cesc Fàbregas

Italian side Como, coached by Cesc Fàbregas, have made history by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever after a commanding 4–1 victory over Cremonese in their final Serie A match.

The win secured Como a fourth-place finish in the league standings, guaranteeing them a place in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League season.

In the historic match, Como displayed outstanding quality through goals from Jesús Rodríguez, Tasos Douvikas, and Lucas da Cunha, sealing a dominant win over Cremonese.

Cremonese scored a consolation goal through Federico Bonazzoli from the penalty spot, but their night worsened after three of their players were shown red cards following on-field incidents.

Head coach Cesc Fàbregas, speaking after the match, praised the achievement as the result of a youthful and hardworking squad.

“It is one of the biggest achievements for me, especially considering how we managed it with a squad full of players under the age of 23,” said Fàbregas.

AC MILAN MISS OUT ON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The result also came alongside AC Milan’s 2–1 defeat to Cagliari, a result that cost them a Champions League spot.

Roma secured a victory to finish third, while Como overtook Milan in the race for the final top-four position.

JUVENTUS DROP INTO EUROPA LEAGUE

Elsewhere, Juventus failed to secure Champions League qualification after finishing outside the top four, meaning they will compete in the UEFA Europa League in the 2026/27 season.

Despite needing a win against Torino in their final match, Juventus were held to a 2–2 draw, with Dusan Vlahovi giving them an early lead before Torino responded through Cesare Casadei and Che Adams.

Results involving Roma and Como confirmed Juventus’ exclusion from next season’s Champions League.
