Real Madrid Election Delays José Mourinho’s Expected Return as Head Coach

An internal election within Real Madrid has reportedly delayed the official unveiling of José Mourinho as the club’s new head coach, despite earlier expectations that he would be introduced to take over the managerial role at the Spanish giants.

According to European media reports, Mourinho was initially set to be officially announced today, with all presentation plans already prepared. However, the process has been put on hold due to ongoing political developments within the club.

ELECTION SHIFTS MADRID PLANS

The current leadership under President Florentino Pérez is facing opposition from rival candidate Enrique Riquelme, who has already set up a campaign base near the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

According to Record, without the ongoing election process, Mourinho would already have been confirmed as Real Madrid’s new head coach.

However, due to the election battle, the announcement has been postponed until after the official results expected on June 7.

MOURINHO AWAITS DECISION

Mourinho, who previously left Real Madrid with both success and controversy, departed for Lisbon yesterday while awaiting clarity on his future.

At present, his return to the Santiago Bernabéu remains uncertain, with reports suggesting his appointment could depend heavily on the outcome of the election.

If Florentino Pérez fails to win re-election, it is still unclear whether the incoming leadership will proceed with bringing Mourinho back or opt for a different coaching direction altogether.
