Al Nassr Crowned 2025/26 Saudi Pro League Champions After Seven-Year Wait

After seven years of waiting, Al Nassr have finally been crowned champions of the Saudi Pro League (Roshn Saudi League) for the 2025/2026 season following a dramatic title race that went down to the final day.

In the decisive match played at Al Awwal Park in front of more than 26,000 fans, Al Nassr knew only a victory would secure the title. They delivered in style, thrashing Damac FC 4-1 to finish the season on 86 points, narrowly edging out fierce rivals Al Hilal, who ended second with 84 points.

Cristiano Ronaldo in Tears After Ending Three-Year Trophy Drought

Since joining Al Nassr in late 2022, global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo (41) has been under immense pressure to deliver a major trophy for the club. After the final whistle, the Portuguese icon was visibly emotional, shedding tears of joy on the bench after being substituted late in the match.

Ronaldo was not just a spectator in this crucial game. After early goals from Sadio ManΓ© and Kingsley Coman, he sealed the victory with a second-half brace, including a perfectly struck free kick that left the Damac goalkeeper helpless.

Those two goals took his career tally to 974 goals across club and international football, edging closer to the historic 1,000-goal milestone. He also finished the league season with 28 goals.

Celebrations and Shock Exit: Jorge Jesus Announces Departure

Amid the celebrations, there was a surprise announcement as head coach Jorge Jesus revealed he would be leaving the club immediately after winning the title. The Portuguese manager said he had agreed to take on the Al Nassr job for just one season, with the promise of delivering the league title.

"I accepted this challenge because I told Cris (Ronaldo) I would help him win the title. We have done it, and now my job is done," said Jorge Jesus.

Al Nassr now celebrate their first league title since the 2018/2019 season, with Ronaldo shifting focus to preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Portugal as Saudi champions.
