Azam TV Secures Exclusive Rights to Broadcast All 104 Matches of 2026 FIFA World Cup

In a major historic milestone for the broadcasting industry in Tanzania, Azam TV has secured exclusive rights to broadcast all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.

This marks the first time a Tanzanian television station has been granted the rights to broadcast all matches of the World Cup finals since the tournament began in 1930. It is also the first time Azam TV, established in 2013, has obtained such a prestigious broadcasting deal in its history.

Azam TV will air the matches on its Azam Sports 2HD and Azam Sports 4HD channels, starting from the opening match between South Africa and Mexico on June 11, through to the final on July 19, 2026.

This year’s tournament draws a symbolic parallel with the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa, where the opening match featured South Africa against Mexico—a fixture that will once again be repeated in the 2026 edition.

Azam TV has stated that it will place strong emphasis on high-quality coverage using two languages. For Tanzanian viewers, all matches will be broadcast in fluent Kiswahili, accompanied by in-depth analysis from experienced local football pundits and commentators.

For viewers in neighboring countries such as Malawi, Kenya, and Uganda, the coverage will be presented in English by a diverse team of commentators and analysts from across the region.

Additionally, Azam TV has announced plans to operate two modern studios—one dedicated to Kiswahili broadcasts and another for English coverage—to ensure all viewers receive detailed analysis and top-quality production for every match.

This development is being hailed as a major transformation in the East African sports and entertainment industry, with audiences expected to enjoy one of the biggest global football events through a locally accessible yet world-class broadcasting platform.
