Simba Queens Beat Yanga Princess 2-1 to Strengthen Title Push

Leaders of the Tanzania Women’s Premier League, Simba Queens, continued to prove their dominance after securing a 2-1 victory over their rivals Yanga Princess in a tightly contested match played at Azam Complex Stadium.

Simba Queens showed strong intent from the opening minutes, dominating much of the first half and managing to score two goals through their dangerous striker, Jentrix Shikangwa. Those goals gave Simba an early crucial advantage.

Simba Queens coach Mussa Mgosi appeared to have entered the match with a plan to finish it early. His team played at high speed and applied heavy pressure in the first half before switching tactics in the second half to play more cautiously and rely on counterattacks.

On the side of Yanga Princess, the first half was difficult as they appeared slow to settle into the game. However, they returned strongly in the second half and scored a consolation goal through Riticcia Nabossa in the 58th minute. The goal came from a free kick taken by Precious Christopher after Jeaninne Mukandayisenga was fouled near the penalty area.

This incident sparked major debate as some fans believed Yanga Princess should have been awarded a penalty instead of a free kick, while others also called for the referee to issue a harsher punishment to the Simba Queens player involved.

Despite Yanga Princess increasing their attacking pressure in the second half, their efforts did not yield further goals against a solid Simba Queens defense.

The result sees Simba Queens continue to lead the league standings with 46 points, putting them in a strong position to claim the championship title.

Meanwhile, Yanga Princess remain in second place with 39 points, with their title hopes taking a setback following the defeat to their rivals.
