Millie Bright retires with great honor in women’s football.

A day of both sadness and celebration has struck women’s football after Millie Bright, captain of Chelsea Women, officially announced her retirement, bringing to a close a 12-year journey defined by dedication and commitment. Widely regarded as one of the club’s greatest defenders, she leaves behind a remarkable legacy.

During her playing career, Bright made 314 appearances for Chelsea and won 20 trophies, while also serving as team captain. These numbers highlight her immense contribution, strong leadership, and unwavering loyalty to the club.

Speaking about her decision, she said: “Representing Chelsea over the past 12 years has meant everything to me — but now I’m ready to say goodbye. I’ve given everything I could, and I never wanted to play for any other badge. I will always remain part of Chelsea — just in a different way.” Her words have deeply resonated with fans and reflect her love for the club.

However, she will not be leaving the Chelsea family entirely, as she will continue serving as a sponsor of the Chelsea Foundation and also as an ambassador for Chelsea FC. Her final match is expected to be against Manchester United Women on May 16, where she will receive an official farewell.

Overall, Millie Bright will be remembered as a true Chelsea legend — 12 years, 314 matches, 20 trophies, and a unique story of a player who gave everything for her club.
