Yanga vs EFM/TVE Dispute Escalates as Legal Battle Looms

The dispute between Yanga and media outlets EFM and TVE has taken a new turn following content aired on April 17, 2026, during the sports program “Namba 10.” The remarks, made by analyst Wilson Oruma, popularly known as “Mzee wa Jambia,” have sparked widespread debate among football stakeholders in the country.

Speaking to the media, Head of Sports at EFM and TVE, Abbisay Stephen Jr, revealed that on April 20 they received a letter from Yanga’s legal representative outlining the club’s intention to take legal action against the media organization over alleged defamation and incitement linked to the analyst’s comments.

Abbisay stressed that EFM and TVE do not support broadcasting divisive or unbalanced content lacking proper evidence. He clarified that all statements made by Oruma were his personal opinions and not the official position of the station.

“It is wrong to use our platform in violation of established guidelines. We have already taken several steps, including removing all the related content and requesting the individual to issue an apology through our platforms,” said Abbisay.

However, efforts to have Oruma apologize have failed, as the analyst has refused to do so. According to Abbisay, Oruma has stood firm, stating he is ready to defend himself in court.

This stance has further intensified the dispute, with Yanga confirming that it has already filed a legal case against the analyst. The situation has now entered a legal phase, with its outcome likely to be determined by the courts.
