Yanga Reinforce Technical Bench as Abdihamid Moalin Returns as Assistant Coach

Yanga have announced the return of coach Abdihamid Moalin as Assistant Coach, while Pedro Goncalves will continue in his role as Head Coach.

In a statement released after a lengthy meeting between the club’s management and technical bench to review challenges faced in the first round, the decision was made after identifying technical issues that affected the team’s usual style of play.

Moalin previously worked with coaches Sead Ramovic and Miloud Hamdi last season, and Yanga believe his return will strengthen the technical bench.

Below is part of the official statement released by Yanga:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

MARCH 23, 2026

The leadership of Young Africans Sports Club met today, March 23, 2026, at the club’s headquarters in Jangwani, Dar es Salaam, to conduct a performance review of the Men’s Senior Team following the completion of the first round of the NBC Premier League.

The meeting began with the management receiving a report from the technical bench led by Head Coach Pedro Soares Goncalves, which highlighted several positive statistics from the first round.

So far, Young Africans Sports Club have played 16 matches, winning 11 and drawing 5, remaining unbeaten.

The team has also scored the most goals in the league (32) while conceding the fewest (3).

However, after a detailed review, management identified several challenges that affected the team’s performance:

1. Fixture Congestion

Within 21 days, the team played 7 consecutive matches (6 league matches and 1 CRDB Federation Cup match), including long-distance travel of over 4,400 kilometers. Management believes this tight schedule reduced player efficiency due to fatigue.

2. Injuries

The team currently has 8 key players sidelined with injuries: Khomein Aboubakar, Clement Mzize, Dickson Job, Ibrahim Bacca, Chadrack Boka, Edmund John, Prince Dube, and Laurindo Maria “Depu.” Three of these players are expected to be out for the remainder of the season.

Despite these challenges, management also identified a technical issue that caused the team to deviate from its usual style of play, affecting both performance and results in some matches.

Management Decision

To address this, the club has decided to appoint Coach Abdihamid Moalin as Assistant Coach to work alongside Head Coach Pedro Goncalves.

Moalin previously served the club as Technical Director and Assistant Coach under Sead Ramovic and Miloud Hamdi, achieving major success including winning the 2024/2025 Premier League title, the 2025 CRDB Federation Cup, and the 2025 Muungano Cup.

The club welcomes Coach Moalin back and wishes him success in his new role alongside the rest of the technical team.

Finally, the leadership assures members and fans that the team will return stronger in the second round, aiming to achieve its goals for the 2025/26 season by winning the NBC Premier League title and the CRDB Federation Cup.
