Rulani Mokwena Begins New Era at Al Ittihad Tripoli with Training Camp in Morocco

Libyan club Al Ittihad SC Tripoli has officially begun a new era under head coach Rulani Mokwena after arriving in the city of Fes for a 10-day training camp.

This comes just a week after the South African coach was officially appointed on March 17, 2026, joining from MC Alger of Algeria.

According to club sources, the camp is aimed at preparing for the continuation of the Libyan Premier League while also giving the coach time to assess his players and begin implementing his tactical approach.

Mokwena, known for his high-tempo, possession-based philosophy often referred to as “Rhulani-ball,” is expected to use this period to build team cohesion and lay the foundation for his playing system.

In a move that has raised excitement among fans, the coach has reunited with some players he previously worked with, including Thembinkosi Lorch and attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki, who previously starred at Young Africans SC.

Currently, Al Ittihad SC Tripoli trail their fierce rivals Al Ahly Tripoli by six points in the league standings. However, they have two games in hand that could significantly impact the title race.

Fans of the club have warmly welcomed Mokwena’s arrival, believing his experience in African football could restore the team to its former glory.
