Former Arsenal midfielder and current Villarreal player Thomas Partey has firmly denied two new rape charges filed against him in the United Kingdom, maintaining his innocence as legal proceedings continue.
During a preliminary hearing at a London court, the 32-year-old midfielder indicated his intention to contest the latest allegations and pleaded not guilty to the new charges. The accusations are part of an ongoing legal case that has already involved previous allegations against the Ghana international.
The new charges relate to an alleged incident said to have occurred in December 2020. They add to earlier accusations that Partey has consistently denied, insisting that he is innocent and determined to clear his name in court.
In total, Partey now faces seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He has strongly rejected all the allegations, stating that they are untrue.
In a previous stage of the proceedings, Partey had already denied five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault brought against him. The full trial regarding these charges is scheduled to be heard at Southwark Crown Court in November 2026.
The court ruled that Partey will remain free on bail under specific conditions while the case progresses. These conditions include restrictions on contacting the complainants and requirements to declare any international travel plans in advance.
Despite the controversy surrounding the allegations, Partey has continued his professional career and remains active with Villarreal CF, which competes in Spain’s La Liga.
