Real Madrid and PSG Secure Big Wins in Champions League Round of 16

The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg matches continued on Wednesday night, March 11, 2026, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain recording convincing victories while other teams shared points.

A total of four matches were played across different stadiums in Europe, producing the following results:

Real Madrid 3–0 Manchester City

At the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid moved a step closer to the quarterfinals after defeating Manchester City 3–0.

The star of the match was Uruguay midfielder Federico Valverde, who scored a first-half hat-trick in the 20th, 27th, and 42nd minutes to give Madrid a commanding advantage in the first leg.

The result leaves Manchester City with a difficult task in the return leg if they hope to remain in the competition.

PSG 5–2 Chelsea

At Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain produced a strong performance to defeat Chelsea 5–2.

PSG accelerated their attack in the closing stages of the match, scoring several goals that secured a comfortable victory and put them in a strong position ahead of the second leg.

Bodø/Glimt 3–0 Sporting CP

Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt produced a surprise result by beating Sporting CP 3–0 at the Aspmyra Stadium.

The home side took full advantage of playing in front of their fans, delivering an impressive performance that significantly boosted their hopes of reaching the quarterfinals.

Bayer Leverkusen 1–1 Arsenal

In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen were held to a 1–1 draw by Arsenal.

Leverkusen opened the scoring through Robert Andrich, but Arsenal equalized late in the match when Kai Havertz converted a penalty in the closing minutes.

Quarterfinal Race Begins to Take Shape

The first-leg results have begun to shape the race for the quarterfinals, placing pressure on several teams ahead of the return fixtures next week.

Clubs such as Real Madrid and PSG are now in strong positions to progress, while Manchester City, Chelsea, and Sporting CP will need major turnarounds in the second leg to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
