Yanga have advanced to the Round of 16 of the CRDB Cup in dominant fashion after securing a 7–1 victory against Polisi Tanzania in a match played at the KMC Complex.
It was a difficult 90 minutes for Polisi Tanzania as they faced a determined Wananchi side eager to progress to the next stage of the competition.
Yanga took the lead as early as the first minute when Mudathir Yahya scored with a low shot from just outside the penalty area.
The team continued to control the match and added more goals through Depu, who scored a hat-trick, as well as strikes from Buba and Casemiro. Another goal came when Joseph Majagi scored an own goal while attempting to clear a shot from Okello that was heading into the net.
Polisi Tanzania’s only goal came through an own goal by Yanga defender Frank Assink in the 81st minute as he attempted to clear a corner.
