Monaco Beat PSG 3–1 in Paris to Reignite Ligue 1 Title Race

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 3–1 defeat to AS Monaco in a Ligue 1 match played on Friday night, March 6, 2026, at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The result handed Monaco an important away victory while also reopening the French league title race.

Monaco showed strong determination from the start of the match and managed to score the opening goal in the 27th minute through striker Maghnes Akliouche, giving the visitors the lead before halftime.

PSG attempted to get back into the game, but Monaco’s defense remained solid, and the first half ended with Monaco leading 1–0.

The second half began with Monaco increasing the pressure. Midfielder Aleksandr Golovin scored the second goal for his team, putting more pressure on the hosts.

PSG managed to pull one back through Bradley Barcola in the 71st minute, giving their fans some hope. However, that hope did not last long.

A few minutes later, Monaco striker Folarin Balogun scored the third goal to seal the victory and end PSG’s chances of a comeback.

It was Monaco’s first win over PSG at the Parc des Princes this season and also dealt a blow to PSG’s title ambitions.

Despite the defeat, PSG remained at the top of the league standings, but their closest rivals now have a chance to reduce the points gap in upcoming matches.

Test Ahead of the Champions League

The defeat comes as PSG prepare for an important UEFA Champions League match, increasing the pressure on their coach Luis Enrique to ensure the team quickly returns to form.

For Monaco, the victory strengthens their hopes of finishing in the top positions in the league and qualifying for European competitions next season.
