The NBC Premier League continued today with two matches played in Singida and Mwanza.
At the Airtel Stadium in Singida, hosts Singida Black Stars made good use of their home advantage by defeating Coastal Union 1-0.
The only goal of the match was scored by striker Joseph Guede, securing all three points for Singida Black Stars.
In Mwanza, Azam FC narrowly avoided defeat against Pamba Jiji, fighting back to secure a 2-2 draw.
Pamba Jiji took the lead in the 45th minute through an own goal by Azam midfielder Himid Mao, who inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear the danger. Early in the second half, in the 48th minute, John Ben Nakibinge doubled Pamba’s advantage, putting Azam in serious trouble.
However, tactical changes by coach Florent Ibenge quickly paid off. In a dramatic three-minute spell, Azam mounted their comeback: In the 56th minute, Jean Jaques Ngita pulled one back, and in the 59th minute, creative midfielder Feisal Salum ‘Fei Toto’ converted a penalty to level the score at 2-2.
Feisal did not finish the match, as he was sent off after committing a foul on Pamba Jiji defender Abdulmajid Mangalu.
Feisal is expected to miss two matches but is set to be available for the derby against Yanga scheduled for March 15.
These results have slightly altered the league standings. Pamba Jiji FC now have 24 points from 15 matches and remain in fourth place.
Azam FC have accumulated 23 points from 11 matches and sit in fifth position, with four games in hand over Pamba.
