Yanga Hold On for a Point in Goalless Kariakoo Derby

The NBC Premier League match between Yanga and Simba at the New Amaan Complex has ended in a goalless draw.

It can be argued that Simba, the better side on the day, were denied all three points after Suleiman Mwalimu scored what appeared to be a legitimate goal, only for it to be wrongly ruled out by assistant referee Kasim Mpanga.

Simba started the match at a high tempo, and Inno Loemba as well as Annicet Oura could have given them an early lead if not for the solid performance of Yanga goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.

Throughout the entire 45 minutes of the first half, Simba were the stronger side, with the only missing element being a goal.

At the start of the second half, Yanga looked sharper, but from the 60th minute onward Simba regained control of the match. Mwalimu, who came on in the second half, found the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

Elie Mpanzu, introduced in the 75th minute, also missed a late opportunity as the match approached its conclusion.

It was an impressive performance from Simba, and perhaps a positive sign in their pursuit of the league title.
