Simba head coach Steve Barker has applauded his players for their performance in the NBC Premier League match against Dodoma Jiji, which ended in a goalless draw at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.
Speaking after the encounter, Barker said his team showed great commitment and determination, insisting that the only thing missing was the three points.
“I congratulate my players for what they showed yesterday. We played a very tough match, but I am satisfied with the way the team performed.”
“We played with a lot of commitment. I think there are just a few areas to improve so we can be even better. If we continue playing like this, we will win many matches,” said Barker.
Despite dominating large portions of the game, Simba were unable to break down Dodoma Jiji’s defensive setup and had to settle for a point.
Looking ahead to the much-anticipated Kariakoo Derby against Yanga, scheduled for Sunday, March 1, at New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, Barker emphasized the importance of proper preparation.
He revealed that the team will travel to Zanzibar early to finalize preparations and ensure players recover well in time for the big match.
“The match against Yanga, we will prepare the same way we prepare for other matches. We will make sure we prepare well. We will focus on recovery and then travel to Zanzibar as early as possible.”
“This is a big derby, so we will ensure we are fully prepared to fight for the three points,” he added.
