Yanga Thrash JKT 5–0 to Reclaim Top Spot and Send Derby Warning to Simba

Yanga have sent a strong message to their arch-rivals Simba ahead of their upcoming clash after demolishing JKT Tanzania 5–0 in an NBC Premier League match played at the KMC Complex.

Mohamed Hussein ‘Zimbwe Jr’ opened the scoring early in the first half, finishing off a pass from Prince Dube, who had initially been reported as doubtful for the match but made a timely return.

JKT Tanzania managed to withstand Yanga’s relentless pressure in the first half and went into the break trailing by just one goal.

However, Pedro Goncalves’ men returned for the second half in explosive fashion, adding four more goals.

Laurindo Aurelio ‘Depu’ continued his fine scoring form by netting the second goal from an Israel Mwenda cross, before Mudathir Yahya made it 3–0 just two minutes later after reacting quickest to a rebound off the post.

Dube, who was named Man of the Match, added the fourth goal with a clinical finish from a Buba Jammeh cross, while Shakhan Khamis sealed the emphatic victory with a fifth goal in the closing minutes.

Yanga’s players appeared determined to respond to criticism from fans following their underwhelming performance in the previous match. They looked dangerous every time they attacked JKT Tanzania’s goal.

The victory officially returns Yanga to the top of the league standings, pushing JKT Tanzania down to second place.
