Simba Head Coach Steve Barker has outlined his plan to improve his team’s finishing in order to make better use of scoring opportunities and increase their goal tally.
Barker admitted that while his side is creating many chances, they need to be more clinical in front of goal.
The South African coach emphasized that in a competitive league like the Tanzania Mainland Premier League, goal difference can sometimes determine the champion.
“I was pleased with the win against Prisons, but the truth is we create many chances and don’t use them effectively. We must be more ruthless in front of goal — I prefer to finish matches early,” Barker said.
“The team continues to improve, and I believe we will perform even better than we are now. I’m happy to see the players fighting for their positions and showing how they can contribute to the team.”
“Sometimes the league title is decided by goal difference, so we should not be satisfied with winning by one or two goals if there are more chances to score,” he added.
Since taking charge of Simba, Barker’s team has scored three goals in only one match — a CRDB Cup fixture against Greenland — while going seven consecutive matches without defeat.
