Yanga Head Coach Pedro Goncalves has said his squad is fully prepared for their Premier League match against Namungo FC, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, at Majaliwa Stadium.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Goncalves acknowledged the challenge of a congested fixture schedule but emphasized that his team is heading into the match strong and determined to secure all three points.
Goncalves also thanked the club’s supporters who turned out in large numbers to welcome the team, saying their reception had greatly boosted the players’ morale.
“First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who welcomed us from the moment we arrived. The reception we received from the airport to here was truly wonderful and touched all of us. I believe everyone is highly motivated ahead of tomorrow’s match, and the energy we’ve been given provides us with great motivation.”
“Tomorrow we will play against Namungo FC, a team that has had a very good season so far. I think they are fifth in the league standings. They are very strong at home and have often won their home matches, which shows their quality.”
“We understand well the challenge that awaits us tomorrow. We are going through a very busy schedule, but we must take it one match at a time. Tomorrow we will be away against Namungo, but we will play with the same philosophy we follow in every game. At the end of the day, we will do everything possible to get the three points and continue our journey positively,” said Goncalves.
Goncalves also revealed that several players will miss the match due to injuries.
“Unfortunately, we have some injured players who could not travel with the team. Aziz (Andambwile) picked up a minor injury; we are still monitoring his condition but we hope it is not serious.”
“Edmond also has an injury he sustained last week and may return to training in a few days. Pacome felt pain after colliding with the goalkeeper in the previous match, so he is not in good condition at the moment.”
“Kibwana and Mshery are also unwell and could not travel. Dube had a health issue during training. Mzize is progressing well and is under close observation before rejoining us fully. However, the players available will do everything possible to help the team secure three points tomorrow,” he added.
