Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves has said his team have completed their preparations ahead of the CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly and are ready to face Africa’s most successful club.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Goncalves said his side will approach the game with great caution, but with a clear objective of securing victory.
He noted that Al Ahly boast many high-quality and highly experienced players who are capable of punishing any mistake made by the opposition.
Goncalves added that his team are well prepared to take on the Egyptian giants, placing strong emphasis on concentration both when in possession and when without the ball.
"We believe we are going to face a team that is strong both with the ball and without the ball, and we must also be strong when we have the ball and when we don’t,"
"We played well in the first match, but we made mistakes that our opponents used to punish us. We have made important improvements, and I believe we will have a good match tomorrow."
Commenting on Al Ahly, Goncalves said the absence of midfielder Emam Ashour is a blow for the Egyptian side, but from Yanga’s perspective it is not something to celebrate, as Al Ahly have many players capable of filling his role.
"For them, missing Emam Ashour is a blow, but for us it cannot be seen as a direct advantage. Zizo plays regularly with the national team, and even when Emam was injured, he was the one who played. We must first focus on ourselves; they have many players with great ability," Goncalves added.
