The referee of the AFCON 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal, Jean Jacques Ndala, has been cleared of any wrongdoing following an investigation conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
After a thorough review, CAF confirmed that no refereeing errors were committed in the match that could be attributed to the DR Congo official.
Morocco had lodged a complaint with CAF, accusing the referee of unfair treatment during the match, particularly after he delayed taking action when Senegal players temporarily refused to continue with the game.
Senegal later returned to the pitch, and Ndala allowed a penalty kick to be taken, which Morocco missed, forcing the match into extra time.
Senegal went on to score the winning goal during extra time, a result that secured them the AFCON 2025 title.
Morocco had expected the referee to end the match and award them the AFCON trophy at the moment Senegal initially refused to resume play.
