Yanga SC have returned to the top of the NBC Premier League standings after defeating Dodoma Jiji 3–1 in a match played at the KMC Complex.
The Wananchi were forced to come from behind to secure the crucial win after Dodoma Jiji took the lead through William Edgar in the 41st minute.
However, Yanga equalised just before halftime in the 45th minute, with Depu converting a penalty after Frank Assink was fouled inside the box.
In the second half, Yanga increased the tempo of their attacks, especially following the introductions of Duke Abuya, Allan Okello, and Mohamed Damaro.
The Wananchi added two more goals, with Depu scoring his second of the match—and his third goal in two games—via a header, before Prince Dube extended the lead by capitalising on a defensive error from Dodoma Jiji, who lost possession near their own goal while attempting to build from the back.
Depu emerged as the star of the match after scoring twice, and could have left with the match ball had he been more clinical.
With this result, Yanga have moved to 22 points and reclaimed top spot in the league standings after playing eight matches.
