Simba Head to Tunisia Determined to Revive CAF Champions League Hopes

Simba SC have departed Dar es Salaam early this morning en route to Tunisia ahead of their CAF Champions League Group D, third-round encounter against Esperance.

The Wekundu wa Msimbazi head to North Africa fully aware that their qualification hopes now largely depend on the back-to-back fixtures against the Tunisian giants. After failing to collect points in their previous group matches, Simba know they must avoid defeat away in Tunisia and secure victory in the return leg scheduled for next week in Dar es Salaam if they are to keep their quarterfinal ambitions alive.

This situation is not unfamiliar territory for Simba. During the 2023 CAF Champions League campaign, the Tanzanian giants lost their opening two group matches but still managed to qualify for the quarterfinals after winning three of the remaining four games.

Simba’s Information and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ali, believes the club has what it takes to repeat that remarkable comeback, starting with the mission in Tunisia.

Through his social media platforms, Ahmed drew parallels with the 2023 campaign, recalling how Simba refused to surrender despite early setbacks. He cited the grueling 1,600-kilometre journey from Dar es Salaam to Jinja, Uganda, ahead of their third group match against Vipers, a trip that took nearly 49 hours, yet did not break the team’s fighting spirit.

Ahmed emphasized that adversity should not breed weakness or self-pity, insisting that difficult moments demand greater resilience and determination rather than excuses or retreat. According to him, Simba travel to Tunisia with the same fighting spirit they carried to Uganda in 2023, aiming to restore hope and belief in their CAF Champions League campaign.

He concluded by calling upon Simba supporters to rally behind the players, offer them full support, and keep them in their prayers, stressing that nothing is impossible for Simba Sports Club.

As Simba prepare to face Esperance on hostile ground, belief, resilience, and unity will once again be key ingredients as the Msimbazi giants seek to reignite their continental journey.
