Goncalves: Yanga Players in High Spirits Ahead of Al Ahly Clash

Yanga Head Coach Pedro Goncalves has expressed confidence and optimism ahead of his side’s CAF Champions League encounter against Al Ahly, scheduled for Friday, January 23, in Egypt.

Speaking to journalists earlier today shortly before the team’s departure, Goncalves revealed that despite the long journey awaiting them, his players are in high spirits and fully motivated for the crucial Group B fixture.

“We won’t have much time for preparations, but I can tell you my players are in very high spirits ahead of this match,” said Goncalves.

The Portuguese tactician explained that Yanga will first fly to Cairo before travelling by bus to Alexandria, where the match will be played.

“We will fly to Cairo and then take a bus to Alexandria. Time is limited, but we have already done our preparation here,” he added.

Goncalves further emphasized that Yanga are now a stronger and more balanced side, capable of competing with Africa’s elite.

“We now have a more solid team, one that gives us the chance to compete against top teams like Al Ahly. All the players who travelled are ready, and we are going there to fight for the Yanga badge,” he stressed.

Yanga’s journey is expected to take approximately nine hours in total, with around five hours by air to Cairo followed by a four-hour bus ride to Alexandria.

The highly anticipated clash against the African giants Al Ahly will kick off on Friday at 1:00 AM Tanzania time, as Yanga look to secure a positive result on Egyptian soil.
