Taifa Stars Fall 2-0 to Iran in International Friendly

The Tanzania national football team (Taifa Stars) suffered a 2-0 defeat to Iran yesterday in an international friendly match played at the Rashid Stadium in Dubai.

The Stars have now lost three consecutive matches across all competitions and have failed to win in their last six outings—recording four defeats and two draws.

They previously lost their last two World Cup qualifying matches, going down 1-0 to both Zambia and Niger.

Speaking after the match, head coach Hemed Suleiman ‘Morocco’ said he used the game to give more players an opportunity as part of his long-term strategy to build a strong squad ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to be held later this year in Morocco.
