The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has reviewed and made significant amendments to the regulations that will govern the NBC Premier League for the 2025/26 season. These changes aim to enhance competitiveness, accountability, and the overall quality of the league. Below is a summary of the major adjustments:
1. Regulation 62 β Foreign Players (Clause 1.2)
Clubs are not allowed to register more than one foreign goalkeeper for all competitions under TFF. This measure is intended to maintain quality and balance while prioritizing opportunities for local goalkeeping talents.
2. Regulation 39 β Referees (Clause 7.1)
The TFF Referees Committee may now assign referees from outside Tanzania to officiate NBC Premier League matches. The goal is to increase accountability and raise officiating standards by engaging officials with international experience.
3. Regulation 41 β Player Discipline
A player who accumulates four (4) yellow cards will be suspended for the following match. Previously, suspension came after just three yellow cards. The adjustment encourages discipline while giving players more leeway to participate carefully.
4. Regulation 08 β Champion Determination
If teams finish with the same number of points, the league winner will be decided based on the following criteria in order:
- Head-to-head results between the teams involved.
- Goal difference.
- Total goals scored.
- Total goals conceded.
- Most away wins.
5. Regulation 17 β Match Procedures
Teams are permitted to use dressing rooms up to eight (8) hours before kick-off. Any team failing to comply with this rule will have its home ground banned for no fewer than three matches.
