Yanga Touch Down in Rwanda for Rayon Sports Friendly

Tanzanian champions Yanga SC have arrived in Rwanda ahead of their high-profile friendly match against Rayon Sports, set for tomorrow (Friday) at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium. The fixture will mark the first outing for new head coach Romain Folz since taking charge of the team.

Despite having had limited time to work with his players, Folz is confident his squad is ready. Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, confirmed the team is in good spirits and determined to deliver for their fans.

“We received an incredible welcome upon landing in Kigali — something that truly surprised Coach Folz and our new signings,” Kamwe said. “It was a powerful message showing just how big Yanga is.”

Kamwe revealed that the majority of the training sessions under Folz so far have focused on building physical fitness, with tactical preparations making up only a quarter of the work. “Our players are ready to fight and give joy to our fans both here in Rwanda and back home in Tanzania,” he added.

Looking ahead, Kamwe noted that the squad will return to Dar es Salaam after the match to complete their pre-season program. “At this stage, there are no confirmed plans to travel abroad for further pre-season games. With the time we have left, finishing preparations in Tanzania is the most practical option,” he said.

Earlier speculation suggested Yanga might spend two more weeks overseas for pre-season training, but that idea now appears to have been shelved in favor of home-based preparations.
