After internal discussions and a comprehensive evaluation, Simba SC has officially selected Egypt as the base for their 2025/2026 preseason training. This move is part of the club’s strategic plan to build a strong squad capable of competing for domestic and international titles, with key reasons behind the choice now revealed.
According to an official statement from the club, headquartered at Msimbazi Street, the team is scheduled to depart next Wednesday, heading straight to the city of Ismailia. This city has previously hosted AFCON matches and served as a training ground for various African teams due to its favorable conditions.
Simba had been debating for weeks about the ideal location for their preseason camp. The technical bench had proposed two main options: Egypt and Turkey.
Although Turkey was an appealing international option with top-tier infrastructure, the cost factor and Simba’s close relationship with certain training centers in Egypt made the decision easier. Notably, the team also held their preseason in Ismailia last season.
“There was an in-depth evaluation. Coach Fadlu Davids and his technical team outlined several key criteria: first, the climate; second, training efficiency; and third, geographical proximity. Egypt met all of those requirements,” said a source within Simba, as quoted by Mwanaspoti.
Ismailia, located along the Suez Canal, boasts modern sports infrastructure, quality hotels, and first-class training facilities.
It also enjoys a moderately warm climate, ideal for physical preparation—especially for teams from East Africa.
This marks yet another return to Egypt for Simba as they aim to lay a strong foundation ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.
Last season (2024/2025), Simba camped in Ismailia under coach Fadlu Davids.
Prior to that, during the 2023/2024 season under Roberto Oliveira 'Robertinho', the team held its camp in Turkey, while in the 2022/2023 season, under coach Zoran Maki, the camp was also held in Ismailia, Egypt.
Currently, some local players are already training at Mo Simba Arena, while foreign players, including newly signed talents, are expected to start arriving in the country from Saturday.
