Tanzania's national team, Taifa Stars, made a strong start in the special CECAFA tournament organized to prepare for the 2024 CHAN finals, defeating Uganda 1-0.
This match was a special preparation game for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) for domestic-based players, held at Black Rhino Stadium in Karatu, Arusha region.
Initially, the tournament was set to feature Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and DR Congo, but Kenya and DR Congo withdrew, with Senegal being invited to participate instead.
In the match, which was attended by a large number of fans, Taifa Stars played attractive football in the first half and secured an early goal scored by Iddi Nado in just the 13th minute.
Before the goal, Stars players exchanged passes from their own half, with the ball eventually reaching the scorer, who fired a powerful shot from outside the 18-yard box that beat the Ugandan goalkeeper.
