Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, has withdrawn from the special CECAFA Four-Nation Tournament that was set to begin today at Black Rhino Stadium in Karatu, Tanzania.
A statement from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) outlined the reasons behind the decision:
“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) wishes to inform the public that Harambee Stars has withdrawn from the CECAFA Four-Nation Tournament in Tanzania.”
“This decision was made following recommendations and advice from the team’s technical bench led by Head Coach Benni McCarthy after conducting a thorough assessment of the prevailing conditions, which were deemed unsuitable for the team’s participation and overall preparations.”
“The team will now return to Kenya to continue preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), with full focus placed on ensuring readiness for the upcoming challenges.”
