The Election Committee of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has disqualified five presidential aspirants, leaving only one name—Wallace Karia—who is seeking re-election.
Announcing the vetting report, TFF Election Committee Chairman, Advocate Kiomoni Kibamba, stated that Karia is the only candidate who met all the requirements. According to the regulations, there is still an opportunity for appeals if anyone wishes to challenge the outcome.
"There were six individuals who expressed interest in running for the TFF presidency. One did not show up for the vetting process, leaving five. Four of them had issues with the regulations, and only one candidate (Wallace Karia) met all the criteria, hence had no conflict with the regulations," said Kibamba.
"As for the aspirants for committee membership, 17 attended the vetting exercise. Ten of them met the initial eligibility criteria and are now waiting for the objection process," he added.
"The remaining seven had issues with the regulations, meaning they failed to meet the necessary requirements. If anyone is dissatisfied with the Election Committee’s decision, they have the right to appeal to the Election Appeals Committee. Once that committee makes its ruling, we will proceed with the next steps of the process," Kibamba explained.
