Yanga CEO Andre Mtine today responded to the Tanzania Football Federation’s (TFF) call for debt verification and discussions over Yanga’s claims for unpaid FA Cup (CRDB) championship prize money.
Yanga has pending claims for the prize money from winning the tournament for three consecutive seasons.
Mtine reiterated Yanga’s firm stance—that the funds must be paid, as the club needs them to prepare for the upcoming final match. Without the payment, the team cannot proceed with proper preparations.
"We came here and were directed to speak with their accountants. We clearly stated our position—we want our money paid so we can prepare the team for the final."
"Debt and revenue calculations should be handled per season. You can’t withhold money we deserve this season while waiting on debts from the upcoming one. Have you ever heard of such a thing happening elsewhere?"
"If they have anything to communicate, it should be done in writing. We can’t continue exchanging words online at this stage," Mtine said.
Yanga has maintained its position that it will not play the final against Singida Black Stars on June 28 unless the prize money is paid.
