TPLB Responds to Yanga Demands, Confirms June 15 Match Still On

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has announced that during its meeting with Yanga, the club presented four key demands that they want addressed before match number 184, scheduled for Sunday, June 15.

Announcing the outcome of the meeting held earlier today, the Board’s CEO, Almas Kasongo, stated that TPLB has received the demands and is taking steps to address them, but emphasized that the June 15, 2025 match remains scheduled as planned.

Kasongo outlined that Yanga’s demands include the dissolution of the League Management Committee and the resignation of the TPLB Chief Executive Officer.

He further noted that Yanga is also calling for the resignation of the Secretary General of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), Wilfred Kidao, and that the League Board should operate as an independent body.

“We had a constructive meeting with Yanga. As you know, TPLB is an organ that serves the clubs, and having such discussions is a healthy sign,” Kasongo said.

“We have received the four demands they presented, and as TPLB, the first step is that we’ve officially acknowledged them and will now proceed to review them.”

“Among the four issues, one falls under the jurisdiction of the Board Chairman—specifically, the structure of the League Management Committee. The other issues require time and decisions from other bodies,” he explained.

“These matters will take time to reach a resolution and cannot be addressed quickly, even if there is intent to act on them. Therefore, within my capacity, I can confirm that the fixture remains unchanged and will proceed as scheduled unless decided otherwise,” Kasongo concluded.
