Football rules and regulations must be respected - Mayay

Former Yanga, Taifa Stars legend and local football analyst, Ally Mayay Tembele, has said he expected the Kariakoo Cup postponement saga scheduled to be played on March 8, 2025, would be resolved sooner due to the international obligations facing the nation.

Mayay has noted that Tanzania is the host of the CHAN 2025 tournament, so it is important that the issue of the cup be resolved quickly to allow for effective national preparations.

He has suggested that a permanent solution is to adhere to and manage the established rules, laws and procedures, to protect the status of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

It should be noted that on March 7 this year, Simba was prevented from holding a final training session and matches at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, a situation that caused them to refuse to participate in the match.

Yanga also responded to the blows by not playing again until it took the CAS case back to the country's football authorities. Following the CAS decision, the League Board has scheduled the match to be played on June 15, 2025, but Yanga has continued to insist that it will not participate, which raises doubts and affects the image of the league.

Mayay said the debate has heated up to social media groups, which shows how the saga has touched the feelings of many people around the world.

"The quality of the Tanzanian Premier League may attract international investors, but a situation like this may scare them and make them fear losing their money."

"It is important that this issue be resolved quickly for the future of our football," said Mayay
