Azam FC Fall Short of Previous Season

Azam FC, famously known as the "wealthy giants" of Dar es Salaam, have had a 2024/25 NBC Premier League season marked by a mix of promise and underachievement. Despite the squad’s quality and moments of brilliance, the club will not manage to match the points tally they achieved in the previous season.

In the 2023/24 season, Azam FC finished second in the league with an impressive 69 points—just behind champions Yanga SC, who claimed the title with 80 points. But this season has told a different story.

As it stands, Azam FC sits in third place with 51 points from 26 matches, having won 15, drawn 6, and lost 5. Even if they win all their remaining four matches, the maximum they can reach is 63 points—six short of last season’s total.

This situation clearly shows that despite their heavy investment and having a talented squad, Azam FC has struggled to maintain consistent performance compared to last season. The setbacks could be attributed to a lack of consistency, injuries to key players, or simply the intense pressure from strong rivals like Yanga SC and Simba SC.

Fans and football analysts still regard Azam FC as a club with huge potential, but there’s a growing consensus that a thorough review is needed at the end of this season to identify where things went wrong and what adjustments are necessary for next season.
