The Tanzanian government has invited the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to inspect the Benjamin Mkapa stadium after the completion of the improvements
Last week, CAF announced the temporary closure of the Benjamin Mkapa stadium to allow improvements to be made to the pitch
Following CAF's announcement, the government clarified that CAF conducted the inspection while the stadium was in preparation for the Premier League match between Azam FC and Simba and that its grass was cut to a minimum
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Sports and Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa said the stadium is ready while assuring Simba fans that the Confederation Cup match against Al Masry will be played at the stadium
"The improvements ordered by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have been completed. We have invited CAF to come and inspect. We are hopeful that the match "The CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final between Simba and Al-Masry will be played at the Benjamini Mkapa Stadium," he said.
