The decision concludes a 15-month bidding process that FIFA president Gianni Infantino helped lead to Saudi Arabia without a rival candidate
FIFA and Saudi officials say hosting the 2034 tournament could accelerate change, including more freedom and rights for women
The fast track to victory was cleared last year by FIFA after it agreed to a three-continent hosting plan for the 2030 World Cup, Spain, Portugal and Morocco as well as Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay
