Arsenal worked their magic through corners to beat Manchester United 2-0 on Wednesday, ending Ruben Amorim's unbeaten run at Old Trafford and closing the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool
United frustrated the Emirates hosts in the first half but Jurrien Timber scored a corner after half-time and William Saliba equalized.
The victory puts Arsenal in third place in the English Premier League standings, behind Chelsea on goal difference and seven points behind leaders Liverpool, who drew 3-3 with Newcastle
"A special day, 500 games in this stadium. We scored two sets of corners, but we could have scored more goals," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told the BBC.
"We lost two important players in our back line but the team still fought," said Arteta
Amorim made six changes from the team that beat Everton 4-0 at the weekend, dropping Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford from the starting line-up
Gabriel was missing from Arsenal's defence, joining Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori on the injured list
Amorim traveled to London with two wins and a draw from his first three matches in all competitions, knowing full well that Arsenal would be his biggest test
