Yanga Head Coach Miguel Gamondi has congratulated his players after playing 16 consecutive league matches without losing
Yesterday Yanga beat JKT Tanzania 2-0 in a game played at Azam Complex
Speaking after the game, Gamondi said it is not an easy task to play 16 league matches without losing, but it is possible due to the quality of the players he has
"I congratulate my players for today's victory (yesterday), we have played 16 league matches (since last season) we have won 15, drawn 1 and got 12 clean sheets in those matches"
"We have made changes to the squad in some areas resting the players who were used in the previous game and giving them a chance who did not play against Simba"
"We are facing a back-to-back schedule that forces us to do that, we will play on Saturday against Coastal Union and we will also play on Wednesday (next) against Singida BS"
"We will continue to work hard to make sure we do better in the next matches," said Gamondi
It is a record move for Yanga as now the Citizens have played a total of 26 matches in all competitions (excluding friendly matches), 16 matches being in the Premier League
The last time Yanga lost a competitive match was on 05/04/2024 against Mamelod Sundowns in the second leg of the Champions League quarter finals
Yanga lost the game on penalty kicks 3-2 after a goalless solution for 180 minutes. However, it was a game in which Mamelodi benefited from the referee's human error
