The Information and Communication Manager of the Simba club Ahmed Ali has given fear to the team's fans that their team is safe despite the 'thumps' that appeared on the field after the game against Al Ahly Tripoli played yesterday in Libya
After the game ended in a draw, Al Ahly Tripoli fans rioted on the field by throwing bottles at Simba players and referees
Ahmed said the team had to stay on the field for about 40 minutes before getting on the bus to the hotel
"After the game ended, violence broke out on the field, the security officers advised us to go to the rooms and wait for the fans to leave the field, then we should leave"
"So we stayed at the stadium for about 40 minutes and then we boarded the bus to the hotel. There was an incident where our goalkeeper Aishi Manula was attacked when we were leaving the stage to go to the dressing rooms, but thankfully he was not harmed any"
"Manula was attacked by one of the security officers in a surprising incident because they were the ones who advised us to go to the changing rooms and wait for the violence to subside," said Ahmed
Simba is expected to leave today to return to Tanzania for the preparation of the return game which will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium, next Sunday
