Azam Fc determined for CAF CL

The Azam FC club has said that despite Egypt's Pyramids being seen as an obstacle on their way to success in the international championship, their goals are still there to reach the group stage of the African Champions League

The chairman of the club, Nassor Idrissa 'Father', said yesterday that this season they have planned to do well and that it doesn't matter which opponent was in front of them

Azam is scheduled to play Rwanda's APR in the preliminary round match, the African Champions League, starting at home on August 16 to 18, before the second leg, on August 23 to 25, this year, after which it will play the winner between of JKU of Zanzibar against Pyramids in the first round games expected to be played on September 13 and the return will be on September 20, this year

"Historically, this is our second time to play in the African Champions League, we played in the past and were eliminated by Sudan's El Merrikh, this is our second time back now, our goal is to play in the group stage, if we reach the stage that we as a club will have no debt at all, but it is not that when we arrive we will say it is over, we are giving up, no, we will fight to go further and we will have gone above our goals"

"We only pray that our young people do not have health problems so that we can achieve our goals and we have high hopes of doing well this season and no matter the opponents that were in front of us," said Father

He said although people are talking more about their match against Pyramids which has not yet arrived, but they are looking at APR as their obstacle, as they must first take it out of the competition before they start calculating the next match

"It's true that we don't have a good record in the international championships, it's true that people look more at Pyramids, but in front of us is APR, we have to get them out first and get there, we don't want to think about the next opponent before playing with them, these things cost us a lot in the past, so first we get him out, let's go to the Pyramids, and I believe we will get rid of him," he said

Azam Fc has set up a camp in Morocco to prepare for the league matches and the Champions League starting in August 2024
