The government has a plan to form three strong national football teams according to age that will participate in Afcon 2027 and other competitions that the country will participate in
Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma said this today, Monday April 30, 2024 when he answered additional questions from Magomeni State Member of Parliament, Mwanakhamis Kassim Said (CCM)
The Member of Parliament has asked what strategy the Government has to prepare the National team to compete in the Afcon championship. He has also questioned how artists will be involved in the Afcon 2027 finals
Deputy Minister, Mwinjuma has said that the Government has prepared a strategy to prepare a team not only for Afcon 2027, but for other competitions in which Tanzania will participate and they will be 100 percent funded by the Government
He said one of the strategies is to form three national teams that will alternate the age group, the first will be for young people under 17 years old, which will be formed from the students of the annual Umiseta games
"Once we find these players, we will put them in a school that we have already appointed and they will be managed by expert teachers. It will have enough training matches inside and outside. Every year we will be sending those players to successful academies abroad to develop the talents already to serve the Nation," he said
Mwinjuma said the second team, will be made up of young people under the age of 23, who play in various leagues in the country and abroad and will be meeting when they are on their team's break Mwinjuma has said that Tanzania in collaboration with the countries of Kenya and Uganda will host the Afcon 2027 "To ensure that the national team does well in the competition, the Government has put in place various strategies, including the construction of football fields in the cities of Dodoma and Arusha," he said He said that the Benjamin Mkapa and Uhuru stadiums will also be renovated, and they will look for and bring Tanzanian players who live and play abroad to play for the national team.
