The government is in the process of bringing back the Union League but has given the reason of lack of funding that has been a problem
The statement was made in parliament today, Thursday November 2, 2023 by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma when he answered the additional question of the Member of Parliament for Magomeni (CCM) Mwanakhamisi Kassim Said.
"The government is in the process of bringing back the United League and soon we will bring it back, the problem will be in sponsorship because that is what we are looking for now," said Mwinjuma.
Mr Mwinjuma also said that the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) under the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has been collaborating with ZFF in various programs with the aim of developing Tanzanian Football.
The Deputy Minister said that the League Board is currently in the process of preparing training for the operation of the Zanzibar League Board which will basically focus on the way the League Board operates in terms of Management, League and investment, sponsorship and marketing issues.
The Deputy Minister has said that in terms of bringing out talents, TFF has been cooperating with ZFF in the selection of players in the national youth teams, where young people from Zanzibar have been called in the national youth team squads and do not end up playing in the national team of senior Taifa Stars.
