The president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, has announced his resignation from his position after being accused of sexual harassment after he kissed the striker of the country's women's team, Jenni Hermoso, on the mouth.
Hermoso (33) said the kiss given to him by the President was not consensual or an agreement between them and he has already filed a legal claim
Rubiales faced the suspicion on the day of the final of the Women's World Cup after Spain's victory against England
On his part, Rubiales said he has submitted his resignation to the Acting President of the federation
In addition, Rubiales has also resigned from his position as Vice President of the Uefa Central Committee
On Friday, the prosecutor filed a complaint in Spain's supreme court following Hermoso's testimony on Tuesday against Rubiales for sexual abuse and coercion
81 women players in Spain, including all 23 World Cup winners, said they will not play for the national team again if Rubiales is still in his position.
