The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has appointed former PSG striker and the Nigerian national team, Augustine Azuka Okocha as the Minister of Sports, Youth and Development
Okocha (46) who has also played for Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbahçe and Bolton played 73 matches for the Nigerian national team, scoring 14 goals between 1993 and 2006.Okocha, who was known on the field for his offensive dribbling and dead ball shooting skills, won the gold medal in the 1996 Olympic Championship and the 1994 AFCON Cup along with the award for the best player of the 2004 AFCON Championship.
